Lipo Etching

THE ART OF BODY SCULPTING

No matter how much time you spend at the gym and counting the calories on your plate, your body sculpting goals may still fall short on your efforts alone. At Cross Hudson Plastic Surgery, we have a solution to help our active patients improve those areas that haven’t responded to exercise and strict dieting. Lipo etching can help you get the muscle definition you want in a customized procedure that’s minimally invasive and done right in our clinic.

WHAT IS A LIPO ETCHING?

Lipo etching is for patients who want a more defined contour than what we can achieve with traditional liposuction techniques. For patients who want to see greater definition in their abdominal or pectoral muscles, this technique offered by Dr. Mordkovich can get them closer to that desired look. The precision of lipo etching allows for the creation of a more natural, sculpted chest contour or the coveted six-pack in the midsection.

WHERE CAN LIPO ETCHING BE USED?

Lipo Etching is equally successful for both men and woman and can be used on a vareity of body areas including:

    Abdomen
    Thighs
    Buttocks
    Arms
    Pectoral muscles

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR CONSULTATION

Dr. Mordkovich will assess your situation to determine whether lipo etching will produce the results you want. In some cases, he may suggest other liposuction techniques to ensure the best outcome from your procedure. Rest assured that Dr. Mordkovich and the entire staff at Cross Hudson Plastic Surgery are dedicated to providing you with the procedures and techniques that will be safe and appropriate for you.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT LIPO ETCHING

Before surgery, guidelines are drawn in the area around your natural muscle shape. Dr. Mordkovich may ask you to flex your muscle so he can get a better idea of your natural contour. Once the guidelines are completed, a highly flexible cannula (one that is different than those we use in liposuction) is inserted between muscle layers to extract fat that hides within the muscle contours. In abdominal etching, we trim the isolated fat between each abdominal muscle to create the washboard look you want.

Our male patients also look to pectoral etching to tighten up their pectoral muscles and offer definition they’re unable to sculpt naturally. For some patients, our gynecomastia procedure which is essentially male breast augmentation can trim excess fat and loose skin from the chest before we consider lipo etching in this area. If there is unevenness in the chest outline, we can reshape the contour to bring balance and symmetry as well as a more masculine profile.

Pectoral etching and abdominal etching can be performed at the same time to create an even more dramatic effect. Many of our male patients find that this is the best possible treatment to achieve their cosmetic goals and boost their self-confidence in their appearance overall.

Recovery from lipo etching will vary based on the precise area to be treated and the amount of fat to be removed. Patients that undergo abdominal lipo etching will need one to two weeks before resuming most activities and a few extra weeks before heading back to the gym. A compression garment is also required for three to six weeks. Dr. Mordkovich will let you know how long your recovery will take if you’ve elected to combine procedures.
There is usually some swelling after lipo etching that will prevent you from seeing the full results of your procedure right away. Once your swelling subsides, you will begin to see the definition and tone you wanted. Your results will continue indefinitely as long as you adhere to a healthy lifestyle after surgery. If small areas of fat creep in once again, another procedure may be needed to maintain your sculpted results.
