Breast Lift

NEED A SOLUTION FOR SAGING BREASTS? CONSIDER A BREAST LIFT AT CROSS HUDSON!

For many women undergoing breast augmentation, they mistakenly believe that this procedure will both improve the volume of their breasts and change their position. However, a breast augmentation does not change the positioning of the breasts – it simply adds volume via breast implants. An additional procedure, a breast lift, will help women to improve the position of their breasts. At Cross Hudson, Dr. Boris Mordkovich will meet with each patient and present a digital representation of their breasts showing the change in volume should they consider implants, as well as the uplifted positioning provided by the breast lift.

WHY A BREAST LIFT?

A breast lift is meant to restore youthful shape and position to breasts that have sagged or lost volume and firmness, and can also reduce the size of the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple). After a breast lift, the breasts sit higher on the chest and feel firmer to the touch. If you choose, the breast lift procedure may be combined with breast augmentation for increased size and firmness. During the augmentation surgery, the implant is placed, and Dr. Mordkovich will simultaneously perform a lift, including the excision of loose skin, shaping of the breast tissue and resizing of the nipple-areola complex.

AM I RIGHT FOR A BREAST LIFT?

There are three types of incisions that Dr. Mordkovich can use to perform the breast lift:

    Incision around the areola:
This type of incision is fairly convenient, since any scars are placed around the areola and the skin can be tightened as excess skin is taken from just around this circular opening to come together in the final stitch, blending into the skin.
Incision around and under the areola:
This type of incision will also allow resizing of the areola, but also reduce the amount of sagging skin around the sides and underneath the breast to lift and tighten the tissue to a higher degree.
    Anchor incision:
The anchor incision, is for those that suffer from severe ptosis (sagging) of the breast tissue where the nipple is pointed downward and requires extensive skin removal.

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT BREAST LIFTS

Each of these incision types provides a solution to the various needs of our patients, since no two women are alike. After the lift is complete, these incisions are closed with strategically placed sutures to help minimize any scarring in the process.
Dr. Mordkovich will place bandages and surgical tape over these points of closure as well as fit you for a compression bra as needed. Most patients are immediately satisfied with their new breasts, and can typically resume normal activity one to two weeks following the procedure. Breast augmentation sometimes takes some time to see the final result, but a breast lift is often an immediately noticeable change.
